Become a Workshop Instructor

This is a new opportunity for our Members to lead workshops and get paid for sharing what they love.

 

Approved by our Board of Directors on May 13, 2025, this program is a win-win: you bring the talent, we handle the promotion. You design the project, set the price, and lead the class. We’ll take care of the rest - marketing, registration, and reimbursements.

Guidelines

​

Workshops are one-day events hosted by Salt Valley Arts (different from multi-week classes, which are separate and not official SVA events). This is your chance to share your skills, inspire others, and even earn a little income while supporting our creative community.

Here’s how it works:
 

The Workshop Committee will:

  • Review and approve all workshop proposals, instructors, and fees.

  • Coordinate dates and handle advertising through our website, email list, and Facebook pages.

  • Note in advertising that each workshop fee includes a $10 donation to Salt Valley Arts.

  • Collect workshop fees online via saltvalleyarts.org.

  • Pay instructors directly, minus the $10 donation per participant.

  • Provide all required paperwork, including Michigan tax form 1050.

  • Keep instructor payouts under $599 annually.
     

Workshop Instructors will:

  • Be current Salt Valley Arts members.

  • Sign a Workshop Instructor Agreement.

  • Collaborate with the Committee to set workshop dates and times.

  • Provide all supplies needed for participants to complete the project.

  • Set the workshop price (remembering that $10 per participant goes to SVA).

  • Offer Salt Valley Arts members a discount—either $10 off or 10%, whichever is greater.

  • Decide on the workshop’s minimum and maximum enrollment (up to 12 people).
     

Extra Details:

  • Workshop advertising will be done by Salt Valley Arts.

  • Fees can be paid online or in-person (cash/check at current group meetings).
