Nov 1st Show & Tell
his month our Open Studio Challenge is to make art and abandon it. The Art Abandonment Project is the brainchild Michael deMeng and brought to the attention of Salt Valley Arts by our own Kathy Shaw.
How it works.
1. All you have to do is make a piece of art. Â (As simple or as elegant as you like)
2. Write a little note on it explaining that it is a giftÂ
3. Also mention that if the finder would like to share info about its fate they can contact us by sending an e-mail to admin@saltvalleyarts.org
4.  Its not a bad idea to leave you're web address contact info…you never know…you might have created a new patron.
5. Join us on November 1st at 10AM for Show & Tell at Open Studio to show us the work you will be abandoning and to pick up your SVA Art Abandonment Project cards.
6. After Nov 1, abandon your art!
7. Photograph what you're leaving behind.
8. Then leave it…walk away…run…try not to get caught.
9. Then on in our SVA Inspiration Facebook share the location and photo of your gift with the rest of us. Here's the group address:Â https://www.facebook.com/groups/362314673367133/
10. Keep your fingers crossed that someone lets us know what became of it. Â
According to Mr. deMeng, here’s a few ideas behind this:
* I think it's important to be able let one's art live a life beyond its creator.  I love imagining what becomes of my art after it is gone…whether given or sold.Â
* Some folks can't seem to let go of their work…even when they sell it.  This is a great way to learn to move on.
* It's also a way sharing work with an unsuspecting patron. Â In this day and age when money is tight, this is a way of encouraging folks to stay involved in the arts.
* This is good for the soul. Â A random kind act.
* You'll find it's a bit addictive…and fun Â

World Art Day
Salt Valley Arts celebrated World Art Day together in person and online. We gathered together at Dan’s in Saline, to appreciate this awesome community of volunteers dedicated to inspiring individuals to explore and express their unique creativity. Lynn organized the event, Cathy brought the games, Helen & Kelly won door prizes, and a great time was had by all.
On our Facebook Page we shared with the world the art, friendship and volunteerism that makes up Salt Valley Arts.

Masquer-aide Challege
This community wide Masquer-aide Challenge donated all entry fees to the Taylor Jacobsen Art Scholarship Fund of the Saline Leadership Institute. Taylor Jacobsen was a well loved Saline art educator. The Taylor Jacobsen Art Scholarship Fund was established by the Saline Leadership Institute in his memory to provide access to art classes through Saline Social Services.
Artists paid a $10 entry fee to create art inspired by their interpretation of the word MASK. A Reveal Party was then held to reveal the artists that created each piece. Guests were encouraged to create wearable masks at the party to get into the fall spirit. Artwork was on display from October 10 through November 9, 2022.
